Artist Statement
Movement is parental; it is a nurturing and deeply rooted form that can be complex, frustrating, and beautiful. I believe movement is a metaphor for life and an effective way to communicate the intricacies of life. Movement is healing and movement is balance.
As an artist, I continuously use dance as a way to understand concepts of emotion, cognition, and behavior. My passion for psychology as well as dance have led me to the belief that dance as an art form and as a meaningful mode of communication can tap into concepts of the conscious and unconscious within psychology that verbal language will never reach. Through acquiring as many tools and techniques that the program can offer, I strive to create meaning, inspire theories, and answer challenging questions. Through the intertwinement of dance and psychology, I, as an artist, work to understand life through dance.
